FLORIDA PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Florida public schools provide a grading system that rates each school individually. The ratings are determined by student achievement based on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). FCAT exams are administered to children in grades 3-11 with the intention of maintaining high standards of learning. It is given in two parts during the months of February (Writing) and March (Reading, Mathmatics and Science) of each year. The grading system helps parents understand how well each school is performing in comparison to other school districts in the state and are based on annual learning gains of each student toward achievement of Sunshine State Standards.
